What is the best way to clean a patio? +
The most effective method is power washing with the right pressure for your slab type, followed by treating any moss, algae and black spot at the root. Brushing fresh kiln-dried sand back into the joints afterwards keeps weeds down and finishes it neatly. For delicate stone like sandstone or porcelain, a gentler technique is used to avoid pitting the surface.
How do you remove moss and algae from patio slabs? +
We power wash to lift the surface growth, then apply a moss and algae treatment that kills the spores living in the stone. This is the key step — without it, the green comes back within weeks. The treatment keeps your patio cleaner for much longer than washing alone.
Can you remove black spot and lichen from paving? +
Yes. Black spot (the stubborn dark lichen that normal washing won't shift) needs a specialist chemical treatment rather than just pressure. We apply it, let it work, and remove the marks at the source. It's one of the most common patio problems we're called out for in Dublin.
Can you clean sandstone and porcelain patios? +
Yes, and these need care. Sandstone is soft and porous, so too much pressure pits and marks it — we use a lower pressure and the right nozzle. Porcelain is hard-wearing but the joints and surface film still need proper cleaning. We match the method to your specific material.

How often should a patio be cleaned? +
